Project overview

Overview

This project for Selwyn District Council involved upgrading the existing intersection at Rolleston Drive/Tennyson Street as well as Rolleston Drive to the west of the intersection.

Works completed

The works included watermain and stormwater pipe installation and sewer pipe replacement; installation of concrete pipe to existing underground stock water race; construction of new kerb and channel, and hew hotmix and block-paved footpaths; earthworks, full road reconstruction and milling works. We also installed new traffic signals and upgraded others, and installed new streetlights while also relocating some of the existing. Finally, we also installed new bus shelters and completed landscape planting beds and laid almost 2000m2 of new lawn area!

Outcome

A tight 16-week programme was required by Selwyn District Council to ensure the surfacing works were completed prior to the onset of cooler weather. The programme was achieved by careful planning of the work including working nights when required, together with the use of profile milling combined with a paver laid basecourse saving considerable time.
